Resident Evil 4 Gets VR Port For the Oculus Quest 2 | Screen Rant

The mission to bring Resident Evil 4 to every console under the sun has finally entered the realm of VR, as Capcom has revealed that the game is coming to Oculus Quest 2. Fans were expecting an announcement for Resident Evil 4 remake during today's Resident Evil Showcase, but they received a new way to play the game instead.

Resident Evil 4 was originally released as a Nintendo GameCube exclusive in 2005. That didn't last long, as it was ported to the PS2 in the same year and to Windows in 2007. Since then, Resident Evil 4 (or its HD remaster) have been released on the Nintendo Wii, iOS devices, the Zeebo, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android devices, and the PS5/Xbox Series X/S through backward compatibility.

The Resident Evil 4 port list will soon add another platform to the pile. It was announced during the Resident Evil Showcase on the PlayStation Youtube page (in a segment that can be seen on the GameXplain YouTube Channel), that a new version of Resident Evil 4 was being made. VP of content at Facebook Reality Labs Mike Verdu revealed that Capcom, Oculus Studio, and Armature Studio were working together to create a version of Resident Evil 4 for the Oculus Quest 2 headset.

There was no word regarding a release date for the game, but more information was promised for the Oculus Gaming Showcase, which is set to take place on April 21. The footage that was shown during the Resident Evil Showcase confirms that it's based on the HD remaster of Resident Evil 4, with the visuals altered so that the game is played from Leon's perspective. It's unclear what the VR accessibility options for the game are like, which is something that needs to be outlined before release, especially as it's an older game being adapted to VR.

Resident Evil 4 is one of the best video games ever made. There's a reason why people keep buying it on new consoles, as they want to keep experiencing action/survival horror gameplay at its finest. Resident Evil 4 is over fifteen years old and it wasn't designed with VR in mind, so it will be interesting to see what the developers do with the game. Resident Evil 4 will surely be more terrifying in VR and it will be amazing to experience Leon being decapitated by a chainsaw from a first-person perspective.
