Netflix's BoJack Horseman is notorious for its profound insight into serious and controversial topics, but the writers dedicate a considerable amount of its screen time to comedy. Todd Chavez and his wacky ideas are one of the show's biggest sources of comic relief. From the ridiculous cube-shaped marbles to the hugely successful Cabracadabra, Todd's imagination knew no limits.
Not all of his business ventures and ideas were as great as his cab company, though. Most of his suggestions were completely unrealistic and some even outright destructive. Many of them were inspired by his love for wordplay and funded by the ever-so enthusiastic Mr. Peanutbutter.
10 Clown Dentists
Clown dentists was one of Todd's biggest ideas and it's talked about quite a lot on Reddit. In order to make children less afraid of dentists, Todd suggested that they dress up as clowns. The result was terrifying, even more so because most of the dentists didn't even have licenses.
Fans have noticed that his later business venture, "Run For Your Life: Escape The Rabid Clown Dentists!, has been foreshadowed in season 2. Since this particular idea turned out to not only be dumb but also tragic and dark, fans are not all that enthusiastic about it.
9 West Dakota
Many ideas only take several seconds of screen time without any further explanation. One such idea is the founding of West Dakota. Mr. Peanutbutter wondered whether that wasn't actually a job for the State Department.
Even though it was minor and didn't amount to anything in the future, fans on Reddit upvoted it and celebrated it.
8 Henry Fondle
Henry Fondle is one of those horrible ideas that eventually got a life of their own. Todd built the assertive sex robot for his girlfriend Emily, hoping she'd appreciate his attempts at problem-solving. While Emily was distraught by Todd's creation, the fan base loved it.
By sheer coincidence, Henry Fondle rose through the ranks in the corporate world and eventually became the CEO of WhatTimeIsItRightNow.com. The scene in which he makes the CEO quit is one of Bojack Horseman's most hilarious and memorable ones. Since Henry was wreaking havoc in the company, Todd eventually takes the responsibility for the curious robot he created and ends his "life."
7 Newtopia Rising
Todd had many odd titles throughout the show, but one that sadly slipped through his fingers was that of a renowned composer. While he was still living with BoJack, Todd wrote a rock opera, called 'Newtopia Rising.' BoJack helped him in the creative process, but then sabotaged Todd's success by re-introducing him to an addictive video game.
BoJack's plan to keep Todd dependent on him is one of the worst things he's ever done. It's worth pointing out that 'Newtopia Rising' wasn't really a dumb idea, even though it definitely seemed pretty far-fetched at first. After all, Virgil Van Cleefed really liked it. And as far as Reddit fans are concerned, they're still waiting for a special, featuring Todd's magnum opus.
6 His Own Disneyland
Todd's very own Disneyland is an idea he tirelessly worked on for five years after BoJack told him that the real Disneyland doesn't actually exist. The result was an extremely hazardous and illegal theme park that burned down in the same episode that it opened.
This particular story arc doesn't stand out as one of Todd's best. Fans mostly appreciate Disneyland because of a callback to it later on in the series: it turns out Penny visited it with her kids at some point.
5 The Pumped Up Kicks
BoJack Horseman is filled with running gags, visual jokes, and pop culture references. In "Thoughts and Prayers," an episode that centered around Princess Carolyn's superficial handling of a major PR crisis, Todd proposes an idea that directly references Foster the People's song "Pumped Up Kicks."
"I'm just saying, if people have the right pumped up kicks, maybe they can outrun the bullets," Todd says. It's one of his most memorable quotes as well as one of his most upvoted silly ideas.
4 A Miniature Cupcake Gun
A miniature cupcake gun is one of Todd's most beloved impractical ideas. His reasoning behind it? "You could shoot tiny cupcakes into your mouth. Uh-oh, is that guy trying to kill himself? Nope, it's just a cupcake gun!"
A miniature cupcake gun is not the only food-related idea that Todd came up with. Fawaffles and the bagel catcher deserve honorable mentions. As it turns out, the fawaffle idea wasn't even all that bad: it turns out that this dish already exists.
3 Smoodeez
Smoodeez are one of the products that belong to the PB Livin' business and while it certainly didn't seem like much at first, it definitely grew on fans as time went by.
A smoodie is defined as "a mood you can drink." What came out of this idea wasn't the drink itself, but a Smoodie blender. Todd was a huge play of word plays, and smoodeez is a living testament to that.
2 Drone Throne
What better way to spend several million dollars than to make the so-called drone throne? In the first episode of season 4, Todd used this odd means of transport to go on yet another one of his wacky misadventures.
He eventually fell off the drone and ended up accidentally competing in a high stakes ski race against Mr. Peanutbutter and Woodchuck.
1 Halloween In January
The single most upvoted idea of Todd's is Halloween in January. Todd came up with the idea and Mr. Peanutbutter backed it up with capital. Unfortunately, they forgot to install floors in the store, so it was yet another safety hazard.
Todd's dumb ideas are a living testament to the fact that those that keep on trying, will eventually succeed. He might not even be aware of it, but Todd truly has an entrepreneurial spirit.
