TMNT’s Shredder Would Be The Perfect Alien Xenomorph Villain

While the Shredder has time and again proven to be the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ worst enemy, he also proved that he would make the perfect Alien villain while simultaneously being the Xenomorph species’ worst nightmare. The Shredder was killed off upon his debut in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. However, when IDW Publishing relaunched the series, the Shredder found new life in this reworked version of the TMNT’s world. Within those pages, the new-and-improved Shredder has demonstrated his versatility and shown why he would make the perfect Alien villain.

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #2 by Kevin Eastman, Tom Waltz, and Dan Duncan, fans are taken back in time to when the Ninja Turtles were just normal, non-mutant turtles. The story shows the animals being experimented on in a scientific laboratory funded by the villainous Krang in an effort to create a mutant army, which he can then use to rise to power. However, the Shredder hears of these experiments and sends a team of his Foot Clan ninjas to steal the scientific findings from the lab. While they don’t get everything they are after, the ninjas are successful in infiltrating the lab and getting a working sample of the mutagen serum.

Shredder’s mission in this issue of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is reminiscent of one carried out by the main villain of an Alien comic book series. In Aliens: Music of the Spears by Chet Williamson and Tim Hamilton, an executive of a morally corrupt company hires a team of ninjas to break into a pharmaceutical company and steal from them a Xenomorph Facehugger egg. The pharmaceutical company has this egg — known as an Ovomorph — in order to refine the slime that is emitted from the egg known as Royal Jelly to use in its medicines. Just as the Foot Clan infiltrated a lab to steal sensitive material, the ninjas in this Alien story carry out virtually the same mission, showing that great villainous minds think alike and proving that Shredder would make an excellent addition to the list of Alien antagonists.

Not only would the Shredder make an awesome Alien villain, since he literally carries out the same mission as an actual Alien villain, he would also be the ultimate Xenomorph killer. When the ninjas break into the lab in Aliens: Music of the Spears, the Ovomorphs are guarded by a horde of Xenomorphs. While it seems like the thieves—who are only armed with steel blades rather than heavy-duty fire-power—are assuredly going to die, the opposite ends up being true. In fact, the ninjas are able to maneuver around the Xenomorphs and slice them at their weakest points, eventually defeating the entire horde with nothing more than their ninja skills alone.

The Foot Clan is known in the world of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as being some of the most deadly warriors the world has ever seen, with the Shredder being the best among them. If a random group of ninjas from a sci-fi world can successfully defeat a Xenomorph hive, then the Foot Clan and especially Shredder would have no problem cutting through the terrifying alien creatures. From carrying out a plan exactly like an established Alien villain did to the fact that he could successfully take on a Xenomorph himself, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder proves he would be the perfect Alien villain.
